The SRM University (Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University), formerly SRM Institute of Science and Technology, is a deemed university in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1985 as SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur, under University of Madras. It now has four campuses in Tamil Nadu—Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani and NCR in Delhi. The institute gained deemed status during the 2003-2004 academic year and was renamed SRM Institute of Science and Technology. It became SRM University in 2006, when it attained the status of a full-fledged university, under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.

SRM Kattankulathur Campus (Main Campus)

A vast campus housing the faculties of Engineering, Medicine & Health Sciences, Management and Science & Humanities - the SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Center and the SRM Hotel are also located here.

Ramapuram Campus, Chennai

The Ramapuram Campus is the second campus of SRM University and is located at Ramapuram, Chennai. The Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Architectures Management Studies and Science and Humanities occupy this quaint and serene campus. Consisting of 9 academic blocks spread over 35 acres, this charming enclave provides the facilities and infrastructure necessary for students to pursue their higher education.

The campus infrastructure includes:

Vadapalani Campus, Chennai (City Campus)

Considered the smallest of the SRM campuses, is located in the center of Chennai city. This campus houses the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of MCA, SRM IAS Academy, and the Sivaji Ganesan Film Institute. The SRM Institutes for Medical Science is also located within the campus.

The campus infrastructure includes:

• 5 lakh sq. ft. of buildings in 4.5 acres of land

• Fleet of buses for day scholars

Modinagar Campus, Ghaziabad, Delhi NCR Region

The 45-acre campus at Modinagar on Delhi-Meerut highway - a home to Engineering and Technology, Management, and Teacher Education. Built on 45 acres of land, the institution has excellent infrastructure that includes air-conditioned, high tech ‘smart classrooms’ and laboratories.

Library

Information is the bloodline of the future. It lies at the core of research and forms the mainstay of learning. SRM has ensured that students have access to almost inexhaustible source of information.

Stretching across 1.75 lac sq. ft. area and four storeys high, with spacious reading areas, the University’s vast Central Library hosts a collection of over 2,10,000 volumes of books as well as a large number of reference books and encyclopaedias on a variety of topics. The library also subscribes to 6599 online international journals and over 20000 titles of e-books.

The library has over 700 laptops, which students can borrow on a weekly to semester basis.
